Fire Safety in Public Buildings

On January 18, Government Business Focus will broadcast Fire Safety in Public Buildings - an interactive webinar which brings together  experts in fire safety to discuss legislation, the roles of responsible persons and how to improve fire safety in buildings operated by the public sector.

Topics discussed will include fire safety alarm systems, establishing and communicating an effectiv emergency plan and understanding compliance regulations with fire safety standards when designing and constructing new buildings.

Registration is free of charge to those in local and central government.  Attendees will be able to interact, share knowledge and ask questions of our expert panel, hosted by Chris Tilley of the Fire Industry Association and featuring the National Fire Chiefs Council, the Fire Protection Association and BAFE Fire Safety Register.

Chris Tilley

Commercial Manager, Fire Industry Association
Chris joined the FIA in 2017 as the Membership Manager.  During this time the main focus was to increase the membership to 1000 companies, a target that was achieved in Oct 2021, and to increase the value of membership for existing members.  Chris moved into the broader role of Commercial Manager in Nov 2021, with the remit to increase the commercial viability of the association so that the FIA can give even more back to its members.

Richard Clark MSc

Senior Fire Engineer, National Fire Chiefs Council
Richard’s career in fire started over 20 years ago as a firefighter in the London Fire Brigade. After 3 years he moved into fire safety regulation with South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue where he held a variety of roles over 13 years. He currently works with the National Fire Chiefs Council as a Senior Fire Engineer with the Protection Reform Unit, which represents the voice of the fire service within the current changes in building safety regulation.

George Edwardes

Technical Director, FPA
George joined the FPA in 2014 with experience as a research and development engineer. During his time with the organisation he has held a multitude of roles focused around managing fire tests and providing consultancy, including as Laboratory Manager, Project Manager, and Technical Consultant.



Ken Bullock

Technical Schemes and Assurance Manager – BAFE Fire Safety Register
Ken is a well-known and respected individual within the fire safety industry and has over 35 years of experience in which time he has been involved in bringing new technologies to the industry.

Ian Moore

CEO, Fire Industry Association
Ian joined the FIA in September 2015 as the new CEO. Previously to this Ian was the Managing Director of several companies operating in the fire and security industry the most recent being Elmdene International and as a Vice President of Potter Signal. Recently Chairman of the BSIA Export Council and BSIA Operating Board, member of several fire and security committees, he has a wealth of experience to bring. Having lived in Oman, Taiwan and UAE, Ian also brings strong International experience to support any export activities of the FIA and its members
