Dr Andrew Taylor was appointed as ASFP Technical Officer 7 years ago. He has nearly 40 years of experience in the passive fire protection industry.

Having started in the field of fire resistance product research and development testing, Andy initially worked on reactive coatings for steelwork at Leighs Paints/Sherwin Williams, and latterly on both intumescent coatings and firestopping at tremco-illbruck.

Whilst working with the ASFP, Andrew now has experienced a much broader spectrum of products including walls and floors, ducts, dampers and curtains.

Andy has worked on various ASFP, CEPE, CEN and BSi committees involved in writing standards and guidance. He has a chemistry degree from Bristol University, and a PhD in the material science of intumescent coatings from Manchester University.
